Hyundai Motor India Foundation launches 5 ‘Sparsh Sanjeevani’ Telemedicine clinics in Haryana to augment public health system

  • Telemedicine clinics coverage expanded to reach villages Rakhi Khas, Pai, Pilkhani, Lohari Radho and Kodhwa Khurd in the state of Haryana under HMIF’s public health initiative ‘Sparsh Sanjeevni’
  • Nurse-assisted clinics to provide affordable and quality healthcare to the underserved community, reaching approx. 2.5 Lakh people across Haryana
  • Key focus on early diagnosis and preventive healthcare

Gurugram, March 06, 2023: Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) today inaugurated a Telemedicine clinic in Rakhi Khas village in the Hisar district of Haryana, part of a total of 5 telemedicine clinics, now operational in the state. The telemedicine clinics are an extension of HMIF’s social outreach initiative ‘Sparsh Sanjeevani’ that emphasizes making quality and affordable medical services accessible to rural India through technology.

Commenting on the inauguration, Mr. Puneet Anand, AVP & Group Head – Corporate Affairs, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “Hyundai is committed towards ‘Progress for Humanity’, and through our various CSR initiatives under the global CSR philosophy of ‘CONTINUE’, we have been giving back to society in different ways under the CSR pillar of ‘Mobility’. We believe a healthy population is the first requisite for development, towards this vision our ‘Sparsh Sanjeevani’ telemedicine clinics, connect specialists in metro cities to the rural population, making quality consultations accessible.  This brings healthcare to the doorstep of the rural population improving the overall health index of the community over a period of time, while positively impacting the economy through improved attendance and better economic activity.”

5 new telemedicine clinics are now operational in the state of Haryana, adding to the existing network of telemedicine clinics under ‘Sparsh Sanjeevani’ initiative already operational in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, with other states also in the pipeline. The clinics in Haryana will collectively benefit over 2.5 Lakh individuals. With these clinics the total number will go up to 25.

The telemedicine clinics are operated through a nurse who first assesses the patient and understands the concern and then connects him/her to the right specialist, who is empanelled with HMIF, over a video call. Post consultation, the nurse writes out the prescription and dispenses the medicines. The entire service inclusive of medicines is available for just Rs 100.   The clinics are linked with labs where basic pathology and blood tests can be conducted. Serious cases will be referred to hospitals in Haryana.

The clinics are run in association with Karma Healthcare a leading social enterprise in this field. The clinics which are currently operational have received an exceptionally positive response from the general public, with many ailments being treated at their onset, thereby preventing them aggravating. Health camps for cancer screening, eye check-up, general screening will also be conducted from time to time.

With this initiative, Hyundai Motor India Foundation aims to transform the nation’s health index, one district at a time.
