Celebrating 152 Years Of Mahatma Gandhi!

To commemorate the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi & to give tribute to the ‘Father of the Nation’ whose life and principles are an inspiration to millions across the world, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on 1st October, 2021, Virtually & Physically both, at Lt Atul Katarya Memorial School, Gurugram.

On this occasion, the Tiny Tots of the Nursery & Primary Wing were familiarized with Gandhiji’s invaluable contribution to India’s freedom struggle. The Little Wonders were all eyes on as they dressed up as Gandhiji by using his symbols like, his attire, spectacles, charkha, walking stick etc. The Class Teachers from Nursery to VIII apprised the students of the history, importance and significance of Gandhi Jayanti and urged them to march on the path of Truth and Non-Violence. The children sang in mellifluous voices serenading the school with a melodious rendition of ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’. With a view to spread Gandhiji’s message of devotion, harmony and reconciliation of, the students were taken for a virtual tour to Rajghat and shown the pious memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The relevance of ‘Charkha’- A symbol of self-sufficiency and freedom in Gandhiji’s initiation for the Swadeshi Movement was explained to the students. The Three Ubiquitous Monkeys of Gandhiji that depict the moral values of- see no evil, speak no evil and hear, no evil were made conversant to the students by the Class Teachers. A ‘Truth Game’ was conducted for Classes Nursery to VIII to imbibe the values of simplicity and honesty which the great man himself practiced.

Our Honourable Director Ma’am, Mrs Sumitra Katarya, appreciated the diligent efforts of students and encouraged them to inculcate the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi in themselves. She spoke of Gandhiji’s courage and conviction and his resolute beliefs which guided the freedom struggle and supported the fact that the country is what it is today, because of him. Our Honourable Principal Ma’am, Mrs Anshu Nakra, visited the classes virtually & physically and acknowledged the stupendous performances of students in various activities. She emphasized Gandhiji’s ideals of Non-Violence, Swachh Bharat as well as eradicating the Caste-Based System. She elaborated on how she considered Mahatma Gandhi to be the bravest and strongest man and expressed her admiration for his autobiography, ‘My Experiments with Truth.’ She concluded her speech with an enthusiastic ‘Jai Hind’ which roused feelings of patriotism amongst the students.

The day concluded with a Pledge followed by the National Anthem giving an earnest reminder to the students to follow his footsteps and carry forward the legacy of values ‘Our Loving Bapu’ has left behind for us.
